Declutter Like a Pro: Simple Steps to a Clean, Calm Space

When you declutter, you’re taking your space from frantic to clean and calm. Don’t underestimate the effect that decluttering can have on you psychologically — it can drastically reduce stress and anxiety! Our dumpster rental experts have a few bits of advice to help make the process even smoother.

Plan Ahead & Schedule Early

One way to make the decluttering process easier is to plan ahead. Decide which room you’ll do first if you’re decluttering the whole home, or determine a focus area for a single room clean-up. We also recommend that you call us as soon as you know when you’d like to start, so we can make sure we have your preferred dumpster size on hand.

Declutter AFTER Your Rental Arrives

This might sound counterintuitive, but we actually recommend that you wait to start decluttering until AFTER your Breeding Roll Off container is on-site. This is because sometimes, once you start, you realize you’ve underestimated how much junk there actually is! Plus, with the dumpster there, there’s no need to create a “trash” pile. You can just throw it away right then and there, saving space near your project.

Be a Little Harsh

To declutter is to let go of years of literal baggage — both literally and emotionally. It’s okay to feel torn about what to keep, donate, or toss, but keep in mind that it’s also making room for new memories (and stuff!). Our team has seen a lot of clean-outs, and they advise customers to be a little harsh when it comes to getting rid of old belongings. If you haven’t touched it in a year, it’s likely that you don’t need it anymore! Of course, there’s always room for those truly sentimental items that have great value beyond practicality.

Phone a Friend for Help

Our favorite tip for a declutter day is to phone a friend! Not only will it make the whole process be much faster and more fun, your friend might be able to help make a final decision on items you’re indecisive about. If there’s anything heavy or cumbersome, they’ll also be able to help you carry it to and throw it in the dumpster. (Don’t forget — all of our dumpsters also have a door in case you can’t throw something over the side).

We hope our tips for decluttering your space were helpful! Breeding Roll Off Service is only ever a phone call away, and we’re happy to assist neighbors with their projects, big or small. If you’re ready to get decluttering, give us a call!
